Generate Shorts Tutorial

Log in to your Klippers.ai account and navigate to the dashboard. From there, you can either upload a new video or select one from your existing library of previously uploaded content.

Klippers supports MP4 and MOV file formats. For best results, upload videos that have clear, audible speech. The AI analyzes your audio track to identify the most compelling segments, so videos with minimal background noise and strong vocal delivery will produce the highest-quality shorts.

Once your video is uploaded, click on it to open the short generation panel where you can configure all the settings described in the following steps.

Use the dropdown menu to select how many shorts you want to generate. You can choose anywhere from 1 to 10 shorts per batch. The default setting is 3.

The AI scans your entire video and identifies the most engaging segments based on speech patterns, energy levels, and content structure. Requesting more shorts gives the AI room to surface a wider range of highlights from your video.

Tip: Start with 3 to 5 shorts to see which moments the AI selects, then adjust the count up or down based on what you need.

Choose the duration for your shorts from the following options:

• 15 seconds - Perfect for quick, punchy hooks. Works well for TikTok where scroll speed is highest.
• 30 seconds - The sweet spot for most social platforms. Long enough to tell a micro-story, short enough to hold attention.
• 45 seconds - Great for tutorials, explainers, or storytelling that needs a bit more room to breathe.
• 60 seconds - The maximum allowed duration on TikTok and Instagram Reels. Best for detailed demonstrations or narrative content.

If you are unsure which duration to pick, 30 seconds is a strong default. It balances engagement with enough time to deliver a complete thought.

Select the language spoken in your video. Accurate language selection is essential for high-quality transcription and subtitle generation. Klippers.ai supports a wide range of languages, including:

Additional languages are available in the dropdown menu. If your video contains speech in more than one language, select the primary language for the best transcription accuracy. Multi-language support means you can generate separate sets of shorts for different audiences from the same source video.

Choose the aspect ratio that best fits the platform where you plan to publish:

• 9:16 (Vertical) - The standard for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. This is the most popular format for mobile-first content and delivers the highest reach on short-form platforms.
• 1:1 (Square) - Works well for Instagram feed posts and Facebook. Square videos take up more screen space in feeds compared to landscape content.
• 16:9 (Horizontal) - Best for YouTube long-form, LinkedIn, and desktop-first audiences. Choose this if your shorts will be embedded on websites or shared in presentations.
• 4:3 (Standard) - A traditional video format useful for specific broadcast or legacy platform requirements.

If you are creating content primarily for TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts, 9:16 vertical is strongly recommended. You can always generate the same video in multiple aspect ratios if you publish across several platforms.

Subtitles significantly increase viewer engagement - studies show up to 80% higher engagement on videos with captions. Most social media users scroll with their sound off, so subtitles make your content accessible to a much wider audience.

Klippers gives you full control over subtitle appearance:

• Style: Choose from Regular, Rounded Box, or Message Box. Each style has a distinct visual look that can match your brand or content tone.
• Position: Place subtitles at the Top, Middle, or Bottom of the screen. Bottom placement is the most common and avoids covering faces.
• Capitalization: Select AA BB (all uppercase), Aa Bb (title case), aa bb (all lowercase), or Default (as spoken).
• Colors: Customize both the text color and the background color to match your brand identity or improve readability against your video content.

For a quick start, Rounded Box with bottom positioning and white text on a dark background is a proven combination that works well across all platforms.

Once you have configured all your settings, click the "Generate Shorts" button to start AI processing. Generation typically takes 5 to 10 minutes depending on your video length, the number of shorts requested, and the complexity of your subtitle settings.

You will receive a notification when your shorts are ready. From the dashboard, you can preview each short to review the AI's selections, download individual clips in high quality, or download all of them at once. You can also re-generate with different settings if you want to experiment with other durations, aspect ratios, or subtitle styles.
